It has been reported over the weekend that out of favour City striker Michael Branch will finally be paid up from his contract this week.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference before the weekend draw with Rochdale, City manager Mark Wright said: “I believe that Michael Branch is signing off next week and if that is the case, we wish him all the best wherever he goes and whatever he does.”

This may mean Chester City could be in the market for a replacement striker to help resolve their goalscoring troubles. Matthew Tipton is one name being rumoured with a move to the Saunders Honda Stadium.

Meanwhile Chester City will be hoping to complete the signing of Ryan Semple from Lincoln City shortly. The player failed a medical at the Saunders Honda Stadium, but once his fitness level improves, Semple could find himself lining up in the Blue and White stripes
