Whilst Chester City celebrated their fifth successive victory (and probably a club record!), Wycombe Wanderers’ 1-0 reverse at Chester City helped the Buckinghamshire club set an unwelcome record of five consecutive Football League defeats.

Historians have to go back to Wycombe’s non-League days to find the previous occasion this happened which was during the first half of the 1987/88 season when it came during a run of seven straight Conference defeats under the brief Managerial reign of Peter Suddaby.

Suddaby was sacked later that season following a 5-1 home defeat to Maidstone United and was eventually replaced by Jim Kelman.
