Chester City will rue Paul Butler’s missed first half penalty on Saturday afternoon after losing a second half wonder goal from Danny Swailes.

The MK Dons star scored with a splendid volley to hand the hosts their first home win since New Year’s Day.

Swailes struck just eight minutes after former Dons player Paul Butler had a penalty saved by Willy Gueret, who had a very brief spell on loan at Chester City in the nineties.

Chester had their chances too and should have scored in the first half when Kevin Ellison sliced the ball wide of a virtually empty net.

City now have to look to a midweek visit to promotion contenders Darlington for their re-arranged clash and another difficult tie awaits.
