A first half Matthew Tipton goal was all that separated Bury & Chester at the Saunders Honda Stadium.

In a game played in difficult conditions with a swirling win and a bumpy pitch, Matthew Tipton grabbed the only goal of the game. The Shakers Second String put in a good performance considering that the team was a mixed side of experience and youth, as well as several Centre of Excellence U16’s being involved.

Against a very young Chester side, who had pace and enegery, it was the Shakers experience that settled the game.Bury dictated the second half, but with the wind getting stronger, failed to grab any further goals.

Speaking after the game, reserve team manager Chris Beech said:’It was a good work out for the lads, with some good performances that will help the younger players develop.Given better playing conditions, we could have finished the game with more goals, but we will take the three points.’

Gareth Seddon, playing his first full game in a while, put in a robust performance, but failed in his attempts to grab a goal.
