Chester boss Keith Curle has confirmed he is hoping to sign a goalkeeper to solve his current injury crisis.

Chris MacKenzie came off in the second half of Saturday’s defeat at Lincoln with a broken thumb which could rule him out for almost eight weeks, while his replacement Ryan Brookfield is doubtful for the weekend with a hamstring injury.

With Wayne Brown on loan at Hereford, Curle therefore has no fully-fit custodians available to him for Saturday’s match with Rushden.

Football League regulations do allow for goalkeepers to be signed on loan, in emergency situations, when the transfer window is shut and Curle confirmed:

‘I have contacted a club and we are discussing the availability of a keeper.’
