Cash strapped Chester City have signalled that they will be relying heavily on the loan transfer market.

The Blues will be operating on a very tight budget during the 2008-2009 season and City boss Simon Davies will be taking advantage of the loan transfer system, recruiting young players on loan from Premiership and Championship sides in a bid to emulate Hereford United’s successful promotion winning campaign.

Speaking to the Chester Chronicle, Chester City manager Simon Davies said: ‘We will look into that. I`ve spoken to several bigger clubs and they`re letting me know pre-season time where they`re going to be. I`m not too displeased with the squad we`ve got right now, I just think we need a bit more belief and need to play a bit more football.’

Davies` only concern over loan players centres on how committed they will be when the going gets tough in the middle of the season.

He added: ‘Sometimes loan signings play better when the weather`s nice, so the start of the season might not be a bad time to get them in.’
