Chester City’s catetaker manager was satisfied with his team’s performance on Tuesday night. Despite losing to Darlington, Davies was upbeat saying the performance of his players ‘bodes well for the future’.

Speaking in his post match press conference, he said: ‘We had a certain free-kick that wasn’t given and the next thing you know they’ve scored. Dave Penney (Darlington’s manager) and the fourth official said it was a free-kick so I was far from happy,’ he said.

‘I can’t argue at the team’s performance. I think there has been a lack of togetherness at the club but not in this game.

‘Every player gave his all for me and this is a difficult place to come and get a result as they are up there near the top and doing really well.’
