Chester City manager Simon Davies has vowed to revolutionise the club’s training schedule over the summer and is keen to get his squad of young players ‘sharper not fitter’ before the new campaign starts.

‘Training was not as I would have liked when I took over,’ Davies said who is now relishing his first full season as a football league manager.

‘This pre-season we will be doing a more modern training. When I was a trainee it was all about picking out a tree and running there and back as quickly as possible.

‘It will be more conditioning work we do, shorter runs but more of them. It might mean that the players find this pre-season easier than previous ones.’
