City legend Daryl Clare has rejected a move from non-league Crawley Town to League One Yeovil.

Clare wrote himself into City folklore with his goalscoring exploits in the Nationwide Conference to fire City into the Football League two years ago, but soon returned to former club Boston United months later.

His time at York Street failed to bring first team football and a move back to the Conference beckoned, this time with Crawley.

Clare is available on a free transfer after a contract dispute with Crawley and Yeovil boss Steve Thompson was hopeful of persuading the 27-year-old to move to Huish Park.

However Clare is keen to return to his Lincolnshire base and is looking for a return to the area with a rumoured transfer to Lincoln City on the cards.
