Chester City midfielder Kevin Ellison has today told Blues followers that he never wanted to leave the Deva Stadium.

The inspirational midfielder scored two goals to see off Mansfield Town in his return to the first team squad after a four game break through injury and suspension.

But despite speculation that moves to League Two rivals Wrexham and Stockport County were in the offing, Ellison says he never wished to leave the Deva Stadium.

“I never wanted to leave,’ said Ellison. ‘The gaffer came and pulled me before the Rochdale game and said there had been a few offers for me and they were listening to them.

“It worked out that I got sent off and there was a bit of uncertainty over the last couple of weeks, but at the end of the day I didn`t want to go and I`m just glad to be back playing here.”
