We’ve had a tremendous response to our fans questionnaire. We begin with Harry McNally terrace regular Anthony Hollyhead (thanks Anthony) who shares his memories today…

1) I have been following Chester for 16 years and attended my first match on 22 February 1992 (my 11th birthday) at ‘home’ (Moss Rose) to Hartlepool United. We won 2-0, with Barry Butler scoring both goals.

2) Best moment as a Chester fan has to be the Conference winning season of ’03-’04. Worst moment you’d think would be our relegation but I must admit mine is the 0-3 home defeat to Cheltenham Town on 1 February 2005. It was one of the most inept, disjointed Chester City performances I have ever had the misfortune to see. Yes, even worse than the 1-7 home defeat by Brighton in the year we went down!

3) My best Chester City XI would be:

GK: Wayne Brown,

B Ian Jenkins,

B Alex Smith (first stint with club),

B Stuart Hicks,

B Danny Collins,

W Ben Davies,

W Michael Twiss,

M Nick Richardson,

M Gary Brabin,

T Luke Beckett,

T Daryl Clare.

All-time favourite player would have to be Danny Collins.

4) Best goal would have to be Michael Twiss’ in the 2-1 away win at Woking on 28 February 2004. Such an awesome strike but also so important too on our way to the Conference title.

5) Best away ground I have visited with Chester is Forest Green Rovers, just for the sheer friendliness of the place.

6) Realistic transfer targets for me would be a return for Luke Beckett and the proper use of the loan system, i.e. get a couple of young-ish players in from Premier League clubs for the season.

7) Last season ended as a complete and utter disaster again really. With the appointment of Bobby Williamson, I was expecting a solid season with perhaps a push at the Play-Offs but, as always, it went pear-shaped at Christmas and the inevitable sacking of Williamson happened soon after. We plumped for Simon Davies, as his replacement, and he just about kept us up with a woefully thin and young squad.

8) My expectations for this season are sadly not very positive. Whilst I am trying to look forward to it, I fear that our squad is still too young and inexperienced and that, if things are going grim again, we will have yet another new manager to welcome in at some point next season. I just wish we gave a manager a couple of seasons to bring stability to our club and to build for something.

9) I stand in the Harry McNally Terrace, towards the left of the goal.
