Today’s game with Shrewsbury Town has fallen foul of the frosty weather despite the efforts of the Shrews ground staff in the build up to this game.

Match referee Scott Mathieson was at the Prostar early on Saturday morning to take a look at the surface. It didn’t take long for the Cheshire based ref to come to the decision to postpone the match: ‘It was quite a straight forward decision to make this morning that the game wouldn’t be able to go ahead.

Speaking on Shrewsbury Town’s Official Website, he said: ‘All credit to Shrewsbury Town though as Jon Harris has been in constant contact with me since Tuesday to give me updates on the conditions and this morning I came in for a 10 O’clock inspection.

‘It all sounded very promising over the week but I think the weather last night has taken everybody by surprise and unfortunately the temperatures have dropped below what was expected.’

Chester City are said to be discussions with the Football League and with Shrewsbury Town to rearrange the date for the game and we will bring you that as soon as it is confirmed.
