Mark Wright’s second reign as Chester manager began with a defeat that increases the Blues relegation fears as Grimsby boosted their chances of promotion at Blundell Park.

City now face an uphill struggle to stave off the threat of relegation back into non-league circles.

The game itself was a fairly forgettable match with little goalmouth action until Curtis Woodhouse crossed for Gary Jones to score just before half-time.

With eight minutes left, Grimsby were gifted a chance for 2-0 when Woodhouse was fouled by Stuart Drummond. He got up to take the penalty himself but blasted it over the bar.

Come on City! Turn it around… PLEASE!!!!
