Chester City pulled themselves another step closer to safety with another crucial victory on their travels.

In front of an impressive Kassam Stadium attendance, The Blues claimed a third successive league victory thanks to ‘Deadly’ Derek Asamoah’s first-half strike – his sixth goal in the past three games.

Sealing the points, Asamoah beat O’s keeper Andrea Guatelli in the 18th minute with a low shot to bring Oxford United further into the relegation zone, whilst pushing the Blues another step closer to League Two survival.

The home side were woeful and hardly threatened the Chester goal.

Derek Asamoah could have capped another inspirational performance by doubling the lead after the break. Sadly, having raced clear of the Oxford defence, he shot wide of the far post.
