Chester City players Ben Davies and Stewart Drummond have been offered new deals to stay with The Blues.

The midfielders have been consistent performers in a difficult campaign at the Deva Stadium and Vaughan is desperate to tie the pair to City beyond this season.

‘We’ve tabled offers to both players and that’s the best offer the club has got to give,’ Chairman Stephen Vaughan said.

‘We’ve bettered what they’re on so we’ll have to see what happens.’

Meanwhile, Vaughan remains optimistic that manager Mark Wright will sign a two-year contract once he has resolved complications with former club Peterborough.

The chairman added: ‘We’re awaiting the outcome of the settlement with Peterborough and once that’s sorted out, I’m confident he will sign the contract.’
