Chester City’s bid for survival in League Two took another knock after a goal from Andy Barcham with just ten minutes remining earned kent site Gillingham maximum points on their first ever visit to the Deva Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Barcham scored in the 80th minute after Jaime Peters’ surging run and cross from the right flank.

Prior to the goal Chester hung on for dear life in front of another dismall home crowd at the Deva Stadium, bolstered by a bumper 340 travelling fans.

Kevin Roberts almost equalised for the hosts with four minutes left, only for his header to be cleared off the line in a game with very few chances to report.
