Youngster Paul Rutherford, who fell out of favour with previous manager Simon Davies, returned to Chester’s starting line-up on Saturday afternoon.

With a transfer embargo imposed on Chester City, new boss Mark Wright has had to look at every available option to freshen City up.

Results haven’t gone Mark Wright’s way so far, but in a bid to change things around, Wright recalled Rutherford, who hardly features under Simon Davies.

Speaking earlier in the week, Wright praised Rutherford: “I believe the club was trying to loan him out and get rid of him.

‘No, Paul Rutherford is a good player.

‘If he doesn`t start you bring him on and he`s hard to pick up.

‘Play him in those little pockets, little holes and run at people, he`s a dangerous little so and so.”

Also in line for a future recall could be experience duo Paul Butler and Tony Dinning. Watch this space as City prepare to face Darlington on Tuesday night.
