Chester City’s Arch Rivals, Non-league Wrexham have captured the signature of former City youth star Shaun Whalley from League Two side Accrington Stanley.

The young winger has put pen to paper on a one-year contract at the Racecourse this afternoon.

Whalley, who lives in Widnes, made his debut for Chester City in 2004 before joining Accrington in August 2006. He played 34 games for Stanley last season, scoring three goals, but was one of 11 players released by the club this summer.

The Prescott-born player’s arrival comes the day after winger Matty Done left the Racecourse to sign for League One side Hereford United.
