New Chester City gaffer Mark Wright saw the true extent of City’s problems on Saturday. A poor defensive display let three more league points slip, and the City boss promised to bring in new faces to bolster Chester’s ailing defence.

‘It’s obvious we will have to bring some players into the club, and likewise some will have to move out,’ said Wright on the club’s official website.

‘A classic defensive error gifted Morecambe their first goal, then the second came from an extremely dubious penalty. I thought the referee got a number of decisions wrong – but I’m not blaming him for the loss.

‘The bottom line is that changes have to be made. Players have to improve and others will have to go out before we can bring others in, so I’ll be speaking to the chairman.

‘What we need to find is some big strong players defensively.’
