Blues boss Mark Wright is hoping City can beat Darlington on Saturday afternoon. ‘Hopefully we can get a win soon. I have noticed an improvement over the last two games,’ explained Wright.

After Tuesday’s 1-1 draw against Torquay United, Chester manager Mark Wright blamed his side’s inability to convert their chances and commented: ‘I thought we had a number of good chances, especially after they had a man sent off, but it is probably a lack of confidence in front of goal that is stopping us.

‘I was pleased with the overall display and think it was a strong performance. I thought we had more clear cut chances, but I have said to the lads that this was not a must-win game, it was one we couldn’t afford to lose.’
